Situation

Ordoline is the developer and distributor of a new-generation orthodontic aligner system with the mission to help dentists treat even the most challenging orthodontics cases with aligners in the most efficient way. For doctors, Ordoline provides the possibility to treat almost all orthodontics cases with the minimum technical knowledge. For patients, Ordoline offers an almost invisible, effective, and comfortable orthodontic treatment solution, an invisible alternative to traditional braces. Ordoline operates in 8 markets and is an aligner market leader in the Baltic region.

Task

The goal of this project was to create a packaging design system based on the existing graphic style.

Insight

When we saw the professionalism and attention to detail of the company, we realized that the packaging had to represent the highest standard. We designed this packaging system from scratch –– from the construction to the smallest details. We wanted to give both the doctors and the patients the feeling that they are receiving the highest level of dental care products and they have made the best decision.

Challenge

The patient receives 2-3 boxes of alignments throughout the treatment. This is a lot of packaging, so our decisions had to lean heavily on sustainability. The challenge was to create a design that still represented the highest level of professionalism and had a premium feel while remaining sustainable.

Solution

We believe that professionalism is primarily based on function. We designed the main box in which the patient finds the alignments tray, the first alignments, and a user-friendly instruction manual. All this arrives in a handy, partially waterproof box that opens like a drawer. The drawer opens by pulling the fabric drawstring, which gives the packaging nice touch of luxury.

This box is made of solid board and can boldly serve as a subtle reusable bathroom accessory throughout your dental treatment which usually takes around a year and a half. The finishing material of the box has a delicate texture that is pleasant to the touch and leaves no doubt that the product is of the highest standard.

Use of materials

The additional boxes which come to the patient as refills are simpler in material and structural design but follow the shape and the tactile feeling of the main box. This decision was taken to avoid losing the feeling of quality and luxury, but to make these refill boxes lighter, less complicated, and thus more sustainable.
